T1ER gets going in Indy, while SHOW moves onto Quarter-Finals

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) continued its Showcase (SHOW) League Playoffs and Championship on Saturday, January 15th in suburban Detroit, Michigan.

The final T1ER regular season event also got going with the 18U and 16U Central Conference teams beginning play in Indianapolis, while the 15U and 14U teams started play in Detroit, MI.

In the SHOW league, there were plenty of games and action in the 18U, 16U, and 14U Divisions. The 14U and 16U Quarter-Finals are set, while the 18U teams play out their final round-robin games on Sunday morning followed by the Quarter-Finals in the afternoon.

The SHOW Playoffs are the third and final event of the 2021-22 season for the SHOW League. Previous regular season events have been held in Blaine, MN, and Frisco, TX.

There will be Playoff Champions crowned in the 18U, 16U, 16U Elite, and 14U Divisions.

Four different arenas will be used this weekend, which includes the Troy Sports Center, Suburban Ice Rochester, Suburban Ice Macomb, and Suburban Ice Royal Oak.

Day 2 Highlights

18U Division: Northstar Knights forward Carter Olson recorded two points (1G, 1A) in a 3-1 win against the Tri-State Spartans. Shattuck St. Mary’s Defenseman Kieran Ronan added two assists in a 4-2 win against the Arizona Bobcats. Affton Americans forward Alexander Gaither scored twice in a 4-1 win over the PHA Icemen. Naperville Sabres netminder Nick Ruiz shut out the Anaheim Jr. Ducks, 7-0. Cherry Creek Hockey Academy defenseman Benjamin Powell totalled 5 points (1G, 4A) in a 8-0 shutout against the Columbus Thunderbirds. Northwest Stars forward Eric Kelly found the back of the net two times in a 5-1 victory over the Madison Capitols. Texas Tigers Brendan Hill netted both goals for his squad in a 2-1 win against the Highland Park Falcons. Orland Park Vikings forward Adrian Ruzencevs had 3 points in a 6-1 victory against the Arizona Hockey Union. Reapers Hockey Association’s forward Charlie Emme scored in overtime to take a 3-2 win over Biggby Coffee AAA. Esmark Stars Hunter Fairman scored in overtime to get a 3-2 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers. Mitchell Berens totalled 4 points for the Chicago Hawks in a 10-2 victory against the Montana Big Sky Stars. Gurnee Vipers forward Lucas Eltoft scored a goal and added two assists in a 6-5 win against Monument Hockey Academy. Chesterfield Falcons forward Connor Williamson scored a hat-trick and added an assist against the Philadelphia Little Flyers in a 5-3 win. New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves goaltender shutout Mission Arizona 5-0. Garrett Parker of the Indy Fuel scored in overtime to defeat CarShield AAA 3-2. West Dundee netminder Dylan Posch shutout the Tri-State Spartans 3-0. Noah Rich scored two goals for the Chicago Jets to win against the Chicago Bruins, 4-3. Clearwater Ice Storm forwards Kevin Dionne and Aiden Besedic both netted two goals and added an assist each in a 10-2 takedown over the Ogden Mustangs. Tri-Valley Bulls forwards Matvey Ivanov and Alex Cagan both scored a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win over the Northwest Chargers. Colorado Springs forward Brady Porter handed out two assists in a 4-1 win against the Madison Capitols. Northwest Stars forward Eric Kelly netted a goal and passed out three assists in the Stars 5-2 win against Shattuck St. Mary’s.  

16U Division: Carshield AAA goaltender Branson Appelman earned the shutout against Biggby Coffee AAA in a 6-0 final. Northstar Knights forward Jacob Peterson scored twice in a 3-2 win over the Esmark Stars. PHA Icemen goalie Hayden Derk shutout the Indy Jr. Fuel in a 2-0 final score. The Texas Tigers defeated the Gurnee Vipers 4-2 with four different Tigers finding the back of the net. Four Chicago Jets scored to get the win over the West Dundee Leafs 4-1. Jiri Duda of the Reapers Hockey Association scored a hat-trick and added an assist in a 6-1 win against the Indy Jr. Fuel. Affton Americans forward Dylan Eifert handed out two assists in a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Bruins. Orland Park Vikings forward Jacob Mish netted a hat-trick in the 7-2 win over the Columbus Thunderbirds. Goaltender Phoenix Hewlett backstopped all 18 shots he faced in a 5-0 shutout for the Affton Americans against the Gulf Coast Flames. Owen Lowe netted the game-winning-goal for the Tri-State Spartans in a shootout against the Des Moines Buccaneers, 3-2. Ian Ramirez added two points with a goal and an assist for the Clearwater Ice Storm in a 4-2 win over the Geneva Cyclones. Highland Park Falcons forward Matthew Tymarskis scored twice in a 5-2 win against Mission Arizona. Chicago Bruins forward JJ Gongol netted two goals in their 5-1 victory over the Arizona Bobcats. Josh Taylor of the Chicago Hawks scored twice in a 6-1 victory against the Arizona Hockey Union. Ryan Knauss totalled 4 points (2G, 2A) in the Northwest Chargers 4-3 win over the St. Louis Sting. Park City Ice Miners forward Liam Van Valkenburgh scored two goals in the 4-2 win against the Gurnee Vipers. Three Madison Capitols scored for a 3-1 victory over the Arizona Bobcats. Chicago Jets forward Mitchell Kolodziej recorded 5 points (2G, 3A) as the Jets topped the Chicago Blues 9-1. James Rice added two goals in the West Dundee Leafs 4-1 win against the Chicago Bruins. Andrew Holtzman totalled 5 points for the Chicago Bulldogs in their 11-1 take down over the St. Louis Sting. Zach Highfill shutout Monument Hockey Academy in a 10-0 final score. Colorado Tigers forwards Ryan McBride and Marcus Ray both added two points in the Tigers 3-2 win against the Northwest Stars. Naperville Sabres goalie Tug Staudacher shutout Montana Big Sky Stars 6-0. Reapers Hockey Association Jiri Duda scored twice and added an assist for a 7-2 win against Biggby Coffee. The Texas Tigers had three different players score to defeat the Arizona Hockey Union 3-1. Goaltender Joey Conrad posted a shutout against the Clearwater Ice Storm, 2-0. Orland Park Vikings defeated the New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves by a final score of 4-2. Esmark Stars goaltender Iannico Amaranto earned a shutout stopping 29 shots against the Des Moines Buccaneers in a 3-0 final. CarShield AAA defenseman Carson Weber added two points in a 3-1 win over the Indy Jr. Fuel. Cain Whitmore of the Littleton Hawks scored a hat-trick in a 8-3 win against the Highland Park Falcons. The West Dundee Leafs defeated the PHA Icemen 3-2. Chicago Bruins forward Zach DeGen handed out two assists in the Bruins 3-1 win against the Geneva Cyclones. Chicago Jets goalie Hagan Quigley earned a shutout in a 4-0 win against the Indy Jr. Fuel. Kacper Gach scored 3 points in a 4-1 win for the Highland Park Falcons against the St. Louis Sting. Ryan Knauss scored a hat-trick and an assist for the Northwest Chargers 5-2 win over Mission Arizona. Chicago Hawks Brian Manns totalled 4 points in the Hawks 9-1 victory against the Gurnee Vipers. Gulf Coast Flames goalie Chase McCullom posted a shutout against the Columbus Thunderbirds in a 9-0 final. The Afton Americans edged the Orland park Vikings, 2-1. Clearwater Ice Storm forwards Benny Gentry and Preston Peterson both scored in a 2-1 victory over the Arizona Bobcats. 

15U Division: CarShield kept their hot play going on Day 1 in Detroit, posting a pair of wins over Indy and Biggby. Aaron VanWie had three goals and an assist in the two wins. The Tri State Spartans also picked up two wins on Saturday, allowing just two goals. Connor Broderick made 34 saves in one win, while Wes Wojtowicz made 28 saves in the other. The Reapers picked up a 4-0 shutout in their win over Indy as Jack Houck made 14 saves in the shutout. Biggby Coffee went 1-1 on the day with a loss to CarShield and a 5-1 win over Des Moines as Chris Wilson scored twice

14U Division: Arizona Bobcats goaltender Austen Gearhart earned the shutout in a 10-0 win over the El Paso Jr. Rhinos. Gavin Cole of the Littleton Hawks added 3 points (2G, 1A) in his team's 4-1 win against the Chicago Bruins. St. Louis Knights forward scored two goals in a 5-2 win over the Orland Park Vikings. Chicago Jets forward Dean Lane totalled 3 points with 2 goals and an assist in the Jets 8-2 win over the Atlanta Madhatters. Daniel Kuczkowski lit the lamp twice in the Sabres 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Sting. Highland Park Falcons Drake Boyer and Cole Adam both scored twice in the Falcons 7-3 win against the West Dundee Leafs. Park City Ice Miners goaltender Oakley Frei stopped all 43 shots he faced in a 1-0 shutout against the PHA Icemen. Luke Lange accounted for 4 goals scored by the St. Louis Eagles in their 6-2 win against the Arizona Hockey Union. Five different Gurnee Vipers scored in a 5-3 win over the Portland Jr. Winterhawks. Cade McGrath of the Arizona Bobcats netted two goals in a 7-1 win against the Montana Big Sky Stars. Gulf Coast Flames defenseman Edward Tumolo V scored in regulation and the game-winning-goal in overtime for a 5-4 win against the Gulf Coast Flames. Chicago Hawks goalie Joshua Kundert stopped all 35 Chicago Blues shots in a 2-0 shutout victory. Reapers Hockey Association goaltender Norbert Bdzoch posted a shutout in a 6-0 victory over the Indy Jr. Fuel. CarShield AAA forward Jackson Fox recorded six points in a 6-3 win against Biggby Coffee AAA. Vegas Jr. Golden Knights Collin Spencer scored twice in a 5-1 win over the Esmark Stars. Three Tri-State Spartans found the back of the net in their 3-2 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers.
