Fairbanks defenseman Cunningham makes NCAA DI commitment

January 13, 2022

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman and NAPHL alum Nolan Cunningham has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Air Force Academy in Atlantic Hockey.

Cunningham, 20, is in his first and final season of playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the Ice Dogs. The 6’2/185 lbs. native of Great Falls, MT, has played in 35 games to date so far during the 2021-22 season and recorded 19 points (4 goals, 15 assists).

“I am super excited to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey at the Air Force Academy. I would like to thank all of my family, friends and coaches who helped make this possible. I’m extremely grateful to all that have helped me along my way,” said Cunningham.

Cunningham is another example of the NAPHL to NAHL Ladder of Development. During the 2017-18 season, Cunningham played in the NAPHL for the Colorado Springs Tigers 16U team, appearing in 19 regular season games and recording 12 points.
