December 30, 2021

The Des Moines Buccaneers AAA organization of the NAPHL are pleased to announce that 18U forward and All-Star Cody Kempf has signed a NAHL tender agreement with the Chippewa Steel of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.

Kempf, 17, is in his first season playing in the NAPHL for the Des Moines 18U team. The 5’8/160 lbs. native of Madison, WI, is currently 2nd in team scoring with 22 points in 20 games played so far during the 2021-22 season.

Kempf was selected to and played in the 2021-22 NAPHL 18U All-Star Game for Team Grey where he posted a goal and an assist in the game.

Kempf made his NAHL debut earlier this season as well with the Steel back on November 26th.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2022 NAHL Draft.
