NAPHL concludes event in Minnesota

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) concluded its eighth T1ER event of the 2021-22 season at the Super Rink in Blaine, MN, on Monday with the final games of the event for the 18U and 16U teams.

16U Division: New Jersey Jr. Titans goaltender Jesse Riccio earned a shutout against the West Coast Renegades in a 5-0 final. CarSheild AAA and the Esmark Stars stayed tied 1-1 until the third period where Nick Puricelli scored the game winning goal for a 2-1 final. The Tri-State Spartans exploded offensively in an 8-0 shutout against Tahoe Prep Academy. Spartans forwards Zander Lipsett and Jeff Slivon both recorded two goals and three assists. The New Hampshire Avalanche took down the Arizona Bobcats in a 5-2 final. Avalanche forwards Aldiyar Irik and Jackson Burke both added two goals and an assist in the win. Vegas Jr. Golden Knights forwards Gavin O’Hara and Jacob Webb both recorded a hat-trick in a 10-2 win over the Northeast Generals. The Philadelphia Little Flyers edged the Reapers Hockey Association, 3-2. The Maine Nordiques scored an early third period goal to take a 3-2 win against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Biggby Coffee AAA and the Ontario Jr. Reign decided a winner in overtime when Reign forward Alexander Sackett scored just 1:05 in the extra frame for a 3-2 win. The Northstar Knights added two goals each period to top the Colorado Springs Tigers, 6-1. The Indy Jr. Fuel defeated the Madison Capitols, 4-1. 

18U Division: CarShield AAA topped Shattuck St. Mary’s in a high scoring game, 8-5. Forward Drew Knapp recorded a hat-trick in the game. A winner could not be decided in regulation or overtime as the Ontario Jr. Reign won 4-3 in the shootout against the Madison Capitols. West Coast Renegade netminder Ayden Adair played perfect between the pipes to earn a 3-0 win over the Northeast Generals. The Philadelphia Little Flyers topped the Esmark Stars in a 4-1 final. Forward Andrew Hodolitz added 2 goals and an assist in the Flyers win. After being tied 2-2, Biggby Coffee and the Northwest Stars decided the winner in a shootout. Northwest’s Kaden Shahan scored, getting the Stars a 3-2 win over Biggby Coffee. The Tri-State trailed the Arizona Bobcats 2-0 until the midway mark of the third period where the Spartans scored three times for a 3-2 final. The Indy Jr. Fuel dominated in their offensive zone in a 9-1 win over Tahoe Prep Academy. Luke Slaven (3G, 2A) and Dominic Dager (2G, 3A) of Indy both added five points in the win. Team Alaska and the New Hampshire Avalanche stayed tied 3-3 forcing an overtime period where Avalanche forward Louis Demanche netted his second of the game for a 4-3 final. Maine Nordiques forward Connor Miller added two goals in a 3-1 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers. The Reapers Hockey Association and Colorado Springs Tigers both scored in the second period for a 1-1 tie forcing overtime. In the extra period, Tigers forward Derek Rassell scored for a 2-1 win. The Northstar Knights took down the New Jersey Jr. Titans in a 7-2 final. Knights forward Jaxon Grosdidier (3G, 1A) added four points in the game.
