15U, 14U teams get action started in Blaine

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) began its eighth T1ER event of the 2021-22 season at the Super Rink in Blaine, MN, on Friday with the 14U and 15U T1ER teams taking to the ice.

Entering its 13th season in 2021-22, the NAPHL is made up of USA Hockey-sanctioned teams that compete in the 18U, 16U, 15U and 14U levels. NAPHL teams will compete at the NAHL Showcase from September 16-19.

Traditionally, the NA3HL Showcase attracts close to 5,000 people in overall attendance, including more than 100 junior, NCAA and professional scouts.

All games will be broadcast live through HockeyTV, the official broadcast provider of the NAPHL.

Day 1 Highlights

14U Division: Twelve games were scheduled for day one of the eighth NAPHL Showcase of the 2021-22 season. The Indy Jr. Fuel took a 6-5 OT win over the Madison Capitols. The Arizona Bobcats opened up the showcase with a 5-0 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers where goaltender, Timothy Teligades, stopped all 12 shots. Biggby Coffee AAA netminder, Tyler Houle, recorded a shutout winning 4-0 over the Northwest Stars. The Esmark Stars shutout the New Jersey Jr. Titans by a score of 8-0 with the help of goaltender Noah Frohnhofer stopping all 12 shots he faced. The Ontario Jr. Reign’s goalie, Landen Bullock Pahua, stopped all 16 shots earning a shutout and a 2-0 win over the Tri-State Spartans. The Reapers shutout the Colorado Springs Tigers, 6-0. CarShield AAA goaltender, Marcus Johnson, was perfect between the pipes stopping all 16 Arizona Bobcats shots he faced in a 6-0 win. Konner Powell added a hat-trick for the Indy Jr. Fuel in a 7-3 victory over New Jersey Jr. Titans. The Madison Capitols defeated the Des Moines Buccaneers by a final score of 5-2. The Tri-State Spartans defeated the Colorado Springs Tigers, 4-1. Biggby Coffee AAA topped Ontario Jr. Reign, 4-1. The Reapers exploded offensively with Mason Minsky scoring 4 goals, while goaltender Norbert Ddzoch shut down the Northwest Stars, 13-0. 

15U Division:  Eight games were scheduled for day one of the eighth NAPHL Showcase of the 2021-22 season. The Des Moines Buccaneers edged out the Ontario Jr. Reign 3-2. In a shootout final, the Colorado Springs Tigers defeated the Indy Jr. Fuel, 4-3. The Reapers netminder, Charlie Durkin, was perfect in the net helping his team to a 2-0 shutout against the New Jersey Jr. Titans. CarSheild AAA’s forward, Aaron VanWie, netted the game-winning-goal in overtime for a 2-1 victory over Biggby Coffee AAA. The Ontario Jr. Reign edged out Biggby Coffee AAA 3-2. The Colorado Springs Tigers netted a late 3rd period goal, tying the game 1-1 to force overtime against the Des Moines Buccaneers. After a scoreless extra frame, the game went to a shootout where the Tigers would take the win, 2-1. CarShield AAA took down the Tri-State Spartans by a final score of 5-2. The Indy Jr. Fuel topped the Reapers by a final score of 5-3 where Fuel forward Marco Medico accounted for 3 points (2G, 1A).
