NAPHL enters final day of T1ER event in Pittsburgh

The sixth NAPHL event of the 2021-22 regular season continued on Saturday in suburban Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with the first T1ER League Eastern Conference event of the season.

Day 2 on Saturday featured even closer and more balanced competition than Day 1 as East and Mid-Am teams showcased their talents.

Each team will play in four games during the event, which runs from November 19-21.

Founded in 2009 and celebrating its 13th season in 2021-22, the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) is the NAPHL is the premier training ground for development, exposure, and opportunity. During the 2021-22 season, the NAPHL is made up of four different leagues: Tier 1, Fall, Showcase (Tier II), and Prep (High School).

To date, 18 NAPHL players have been tendered by NAHL teams for the 2022-23 season.

Day 2 Highlights

16U Division: Ten games were scheduled for day two of the NAPHL T1ER East Conference Showcase. In the opening game, the Philadelphia Little Flyers started the day with a 4-2 win over the Tri-State Spartans. The Jersey Whalers defeated the Indy Jr. Fuel by a score of 3-1. In a high scoring affair, the PHA Icemen took the win over the New Jersey Jr. Titans by a 7-6 final. Zach Nacey netted a hat-trick for the Icemen in the game. Later in the day, the Northeast Generals won 3-2 over the New Jersey Titans. The Tri-State Spartans defeated the East Coast Spartans by a final score of 5-1. The Esmark Stars shutout the New Hampshire Avalanche by a final of 2-0 where goaltender Owen Byers backstopped all 23 shots that came his way. The Philadelphia Little Flyers found a win over Biggby Coffee AAA 3-1. In a high scoring game, the New Jersey Jr. Titans topped the Jersey Shore Whalers by a final score of 9-8. The Indy Jr. Fuel got a win over the New Jersey Jr. Titans in overtime 3-2 with the help of Davis Cline netting the OT winner. In the final game of the day, the PHA Icemen took down the Indy Jr. Fuel by a final score of 6-1.

18U Division:  Fourteen games were scheduled for day two of the NAPHL T1ER East Conference Showcase. In the opening game, Biggby Coffee AAA topped the Skipjacks 4-1. The Indy Jr. Fuel topped the Northeast Generals in a 5-2 game. The New Jerseys Titans shutout the 95 Giants in a 1-0 affair with the help of Lucca Scaglione stopping all 17 shots he faced. The Esmark Stars shutout the New Hampshire Avalanche today 7-0. Ethan Zupanc recorded two goals and two assists while goaltender Samuel Boos earned his first shutout of the year. The Philadelphia Little Flyers defeated the East Coast Spartans by a 7-4 final score with six different Flyers scoring in the game. The Tri-Valley Bulls took a one goal lead in the second period over the Tri-State Spartans and held on for a 2-1 win. The Maine Nordiques edged past the Tri-State Spartans 5-4. The Philadelphia Little Flyers took down the New Jersey Jr. Titans in a 7-3 game. Both Tony Tuozzo, and Konnor Savvas recorded two goals in the game for Philadelphia, while Anthony Varialle scored twice for New Jersey. The Jersey Whalers overcame the PHA Icemen by a final of 4-3. The New Jersey Jr. Titans took a win over the East Coast Spartans 5-2. The Philadelphia Little Flyers and Biggby Coffee went down to the wire forcing over-time where Zach Crain scored to get the Little Flyers the win, 2-1. The Skipjacks Hockey Club took a win in a shootout against the Northeast Generals winning 2-1. The Indy Jr. Fuel came out on all cylinders with a statement 8-1 win over the 95 Giants winning 8-1. In the final game of the day, the Esmark Stars defeated the Main Nordiques 4-3.
