T1ER action highlights final day in Texas

The fifth event of the 2021-22 NAPHL season concluded on Monday in Frisco, Texas with 18U, 16U and 14U teams taking to the ice as the T!ER League finished their final games of the event in addition to final 18U games in the SHOW League.

The event featured 128 teams and featured action in the T1ER League Western Conference at the 18U, 16U, 15U, and 14U levels in addition to SHOWCASE League action in the 18U, 16U, and 14U age groups. It was also be the first regular season event of the 2021-22 season for the PREP League.

Day 4 Highlights

14U Division: There were just three games in the 14U Division on Monday in Texas, all featuring teams from the T1ER League West Conference. In the opener, the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights got a hat-trick from Chase Nehring and 28 saves from Kellen Hardy in a 5-3 win over the Arizona Bobcats. The Northwest Stars got an overtime-winner from Cullen Johnson in a 3-2 win over Colorado Springs. In the finale, the Madison Capitols got two goals apiece from Max Davis and Owen Barnet in a 6-2 win over the Ontario Jr. Reign.

16U Division: Four games highlighted the schedule on the final day in Texas as eight T1ER Western Conference teams took to the ice. In the opener, the Ontario Jr. Reign got a hat-trick from Landon McCoy and two goals from Adrian Gomez in a 7-2 win over Colorado Springs. The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights got an overtime-winner from Gavin O’Hara and 20 saves from Logan Perez in a 2-1 win over Arizona. Tahoe Prep got two goals apiece from Brennan Monroe and Nick Harteck as they beat the Northwest Stars, 6-2. The Madison Capitols got two goals from Jamison Allen and 28 saves from Nathan McAlpine in a 5-3 win over West Coast.

18U Division:  The 18U Division had 17 games in the T!ER and SHOW Leagues. Montana picked up their first win of the event as Charlie Lang made 38 saves in a 5-3 win over Gurnee. The Chicago Jets stayed perfect on the season as Kasper Zabawa had two goals in an 8-3 win over Ogden. Chesterfield also went 4-0 thanks to a 4-2 win over Philadelphia as Isaac Weatherford made 36 saves. West Dundee improved to 8-0 on the season as Dominic Ceasrone made 25 saves in a shutout of Clearwater. The St. Louis Sting got a hat-trick and an assist from Sam Karraker in an 8-1 win over Columbus. The Chicago Bruins got two goals from Max Hudson and 40 saves from Payton Aldridge in a 6-2 win over Monument. Max Geddes made 24 saves for the Arizona Bobcats in a 5-1 win over Tahoe Prep. The Chicago Hawks got 29 saves from Jonathon Volland and two goals from Chase Davenport in a 4-1 win over Mission Arizona. The Northwest Chargers edged Cherry Creek 4-3 in a shootout thanks to a shootout goal from Lucas D’Angelo. Highland Park stayed among the league leaders with a 7-1 win over the Jr. Brahmas as Nick Fonk had a hat-trick. Max Mudge had the shootout winner as the Northwest Stars edged Team Alaska, 2-1. Naperville got goals from four different players in a 4-3 win over Arizona Hockey Union. The Dallas Penguins got 31 saves from Jackson Black in a 5-3 win over the Littleton Hawks. The Affton Americans got two goals apiece from Daniel Leahy and Aaron Hemmer and 14 saves from Joe Christophel in a 10-0 shutout over New Mexico. Cole Fennema stopped all 27 shots that came his way in a 4-0 win over Orland Park. In the final game, the Ontario Jr. Reign got two goals from Trent Teruya in a 5-2 win over Madison.
