Philadelphia 18U forward O'Connell signs NAHL tender
The Philadelphia Little Flyers of the NAPHL are pleased to announce that 18U forward and All-Star Patrick O’Connell has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Aberdeen Wings of the NAHL’s Central Division.
O’Connell, 18, just completed his third season playing in the NAPHL and second season for the Little Flyers. The 5’7/155 lbs. native of West Chester, PA, recorded five points in eight NAPHL regular season games during the 2020-21 season.
He helped the Little Flyers 18U team to the Dixon Cup Championship Game in 2021, recording 12 points in six playoff games.
He was also selected to and played in the 2020-21 NAPHL 18U All-Star Game, playing for Team Demko in the event. He also made his NAHL debut in May with the Janesville Jets.
During the 2019-20 season, O’Connell appeared in 16 NAPHL regular season games and had 28 points.
During the 2018-19 season, O’Connell played for the Valley Forge Minutemen 16U team, recording 10 points in 16 games played.
He is the fourth player from the Little Flyers 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender for the 2021-22 season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2021 NAHL Draft.
