Northstar 18U forward Owen Hanson signs NAHL tender
The Northstar Knights of the NAPHL are pleased to announce that 18U forward Owen Hanson has signed a North American Hockey League tender agreement with the Minot Minotauros of the NAHL’s Central Division.
Hanson, 17, completed his second season playing in the NAPHL and first for Northstar during the 2020-21 season. The 6’0/175 lbs. native of West Fargo, ND, appeared in 11 NAPHL regular season games this past season and recorded five points (3 goals, 2 assists).
In 43 total games in 2020-21, he recorded 31 points. He also had four points in six Dixon Cup Playoff games, helping Northstar to the 18U title.
Hanson spent the 2019-20 season also playing in the NAPHL for the Sioux Falls Power 16U team, where he posted six points in 15 NAPHL games.
He is the 9th player from the Northstar Knights 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender for the 2021-22 season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2021 NAHL Draft.
