Sioux Falls 16U forward Miller signs NAHL tender
April 16, 2020
The Sioux Falls Power of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce that 16U forward and All-Star Marcus Miller has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Minnesota Magicians of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.
Miller, 17, has spent the last two seasons playing for the Power in the NAPHL. The 5’11/181 lbs. native of Altoona, Iowa, appeared in 17 NAPHL games during the 2019-20 season for the Power and recorded nine points.
He was also selected to and played in the 2019-20 NAPHL 16U All-Star Game.
“Marcus brings extreme quickness and a natural scoring touch to our line-up. For a young player, we feel he is ready to take the next step to junior hockey. His work ethic and consistent production in Sioux Falls is what we are hoping he can bring to the Magicians,” said Magicians head coach AJ Bucchino.
Miller has played the past three seasons in the NAPHL, including the past two with the Power 16U and 15U teams and the 2017-18 season with the Omaha AAA 15U team.
In 35 career NAPHL games, he has recorded 29 points.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 2, 2020.
