Sioux Falls 18U forward Husby signs NAHL tender

November 21, 2019
The Sioux Falls Power of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce 18U forward and leading scorer Braden Husby has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Bismarck Bobcats of the NAHL’s Central Division.

Husby, 17, has collected 22 points (12 goals, 10 assists) in just 12 NAPHL games with the Sioux Falls Power 18U team this season. The 6’0/170 lbs. native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota native spent last season playing in the NAPHL with the Rocky Mountain Roughriders 16U team, putting up 13 points in 16 games.

Husby was named the NAPHL 18U Peak Performer for Offense in both September and October. He is currently 2nd in NAPHL 18U scoring.

“Braden is a power forward who brings an element to a game that every team needs: toughness, great stick, and can shoot a puck,” said Bobcats scout Wade Chiodo. “He is a forward that will play with grit and has the ability to create space for his linemates.”

“The game I was at in Bismarck, the fans were awesome. It seemed like a great atmosphere. The players and coaches welcomed me and made me feel like part of the team,” Husby said. “I go to the corners and get dirty in there, and go to the front of the net. Put a few pucks in the net.”

Husby is the first player from the Sioux Falls 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender this season.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 2, 2020.
