Colorado Springs defenseman Langus signs NAHL tender

February 13, 2019
The Colorado Springs Tigers AAA hockey organization of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) is pleased to announce that 18U defenseman Zach Langus has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Odessa Jackalopes of the NAHL’s South Division.

Langus, 18, is currently in his third season of playing for the Tigers AAA program and serves as an assistant captain for this year’s team.

The 5’9/180 lbs. native of Boise, Idaho, has totaled 26 points over 62 games from the blue line in his three seasons in the NAPHL, including eight points in 20 games played this season.

“Zach brings a high compete level to every practice and has absolutely dedicated to the process with both our program and the Jackalopes. This is a great example of developing on and off the ice, and we are very excited for Zach and the opportunity he will have moving forward,” stated Tigers 18U head coach Kevin Holmstrom.

“I am excited for the opportunity to become a Jackalope,” Langus said. “I would like to thank coach Gatto and coach Campbell for allowing me to achieve a goal that I have been striving for over the last three years. The Jackalopes organization is one that I am proud to be a part of in that they have proven to give their players great opportunities to succeed.”

Langus continued.. “I can not thank the Tigers organization enough for all that they have done for me over the years. Allowing me to develop my game with unbelievable training and an atmosphere on the ice that drove me to become a better player every time I step on the ice.”

Langus is the second player from the Tigers AAA 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender so far this season.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2019.
