NAPHL event in North Texas faces off on Friday

The NAPHL makes a return to North Texas this weekend as the third event of the 2018-19 season takes place from November 9-12. Teams from the 18U, 16U, and 15U levels will gather together for a four-day slate of games. All teams from the High Performance and Elite Divisions will be competing in the event.
The Dr Pepper StarCenter’s in McKinney, Frisco, and Plano will all host games for this event. This marks the first time since the 2011-12 season that the NAPHL has held an event in North Texas.
All games will be broadcast live through HockeyTV, the official broadcast provider of the NAPHL.

There is a lot on the line in Dallas this weekend as multiple teams will look to jump ahead in the standings and establish themselves as serious contenders going forward. One of the marquee matchups of the weekend will be Meijer AAA taking on the Wenatchee Wolves on Nov. 10th in McKinney. This matchup features the two first place teams from each division. Meijer’s first game of the weekend will be against the Dallas Stars Elite. The Dallas Club will be playing their first games in the NAPHL as a guest team this season. The Stars will also go against the CarShield AAA who is currently in 2nd place in the High Performance Division behind Meijer. The two top teams in the Elite Division will get together on Nov. 9th, as the Thunder Bay Kings will look to jump ahead of the Wenatchee Wolves. Shattuck-St. Mary’s will also be playing some important games including a big matchup against Florida Alliance on Nov. 9th. Shattuck leads the Alliance by one point in the standings. With the 1-5 seeds in the High Performance and Elite Divisions only being separated by 5 points, it will be a very vital weekend for all contending teams looking to jump into first place. The marquee matchup of the weekend will be the first place Alaska Oilers taking on the 2nd place Nashville Jr. Predators on Nov. 10th in Frisco. The Predators are only one point out of first place behind the Thunder Bay Kings in the Elite Division. Lucky for them, they get an opportunity to jump ahead in their first game going against the Kings on Nov. 9th in McKinney. The schedule is tough for the Kings as they immediately have to face the 2nd place team in the High Performance Division on Nov 10th, the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders. The guest Dallas Stars Elite will play their first NAPHL games this weekend as well. The big matchup for them will be right away on November 9th in Frisco against those same Rocky Mountain RoughRiders. Some of the other big matchups to look out for are listed below:

It will be a short 3-day slate of games in Dallas for the 15U High Performance Division taking place from Nov. 9th - Nov. 11th. The first place Sioux Falls Power will have their hands full as they take on the 3rd place Esmark Stars on Nov 9th in McKinney and the big matchup against 2nd place Meijer AAA on Nov. 10th in Frisco. Meijer AAA and Esmark will also meet up on Nov 11th in McKinney. These three games will go along way in determining who comes out of the weekend on top of the division. The NAPHL has established itself as one of the premier grounds for development and exposure, and is a great stepping-stone for development and training for young hockey players looking to gain experience and knowledge to work their way up to the National level. The success of teams on the National stage, as well as, the success of NAPHL players at the next levels of hockey, is further proof that the NAPHL is redefining exposure and has elevated itself as the leader in development and opportunity.
The NAPHL has enjoyed a record-breaking amount of advancement in recent seasons, which is highlighted by a large amount of advancement of players to the North American Hockey League (NAHL). No other USA Hockey Midget Tier I league has had more players play in the NAHL over the course of the last two seasons than the NAPHL. 48 players from the NAPHL were tendered to play in the NAHL for the upcoming 2018-19 season. The NAPHL saw over 90 alumni play in the NAHL during the 2017-18 season. In addition, four NAPHL alumni were selected in the 2018 NHL Draft and a total of 27 NAPHL alumni have been selected in the last six NHL Drafts.
