Generals forward Jaworski makes NCAA DI commitment

October 10, 2018

Ladder of Development: John Jaworski played a season in the NAPHL for Sioux Falls, which included a great performance in the NAPHL All-Star Game, prior to his success in the NAHL and NCAA commitment.

The Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward John Jaworski has committed to play Division I NCAA Hockey at Sacred Heart University.

Jaworski, 18, has played in six regular season games to date in 2018-19 with the Generals and recorded four points (2 goals, 2 assists), while helping the team to a record of 3-3.

The 5’10/163 lbs. native of Grinnell, Iowa, came to the Generals via the NAHL/NAPHL tender program. John played the previous two years for the Sioux Falls Stampede. Last year playing in the NAPHL for the Stampede, Jaworski had 13 points in 17 games and was a dominant force on both the power play and the penalty kill.

He was also selected to and played in the 2018 NAPHL 18U All-Star Game for the North All-Stars where he had a hat-trick and an assist in the game.

“John has done a great job. We lost a ton of firepower up front from last year’s team and having John step right into a top six role for us has been huge,” said Generals Head Coach Joe Lovell. “He is a very intelligent player who plays a full 200 feet and competes on every shift.”

“John works extremely hard and has been a great addition to our team. We are starting to come together as a group and John’s ability to play in all situations is a big reason for that. He has simplified his game and does a great job of getting pucks out of the zone and deep in the offensive zone,” added GM Bryan Erikson.

Jaworski will join the Sacred Heart Pioneers for the 2020-21 season and will hope to make an immediate impact on the Atlantic Hockey Conference member. The Pioneers went 9-15-4 with a young team and look to improve in 2018-19 and beyond.
