NAPHL announces Showcase Division schedule for October

October 2, 2018

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) is pleased to announce the remainder of the game schedule for the NAPHL’s Showcase Division for the 2018-19 regular season. The Showcase Division is new to the NAPHL this season and is comprised of independent 18U and 16U teams within North America wishing to compete at a Tier I level.

The Showcase Division will make its debut at the next NAPHL event, which will take place at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota, from October 19-21. It will be played in cooperation with the NAPHL’s High Performance and Elite Division’s, who will be both playing in their second event of the 2018-19 season.

“The NAPHL got off to a great start in September with some great competition in games during the first event. We are looking forward to October where the entire focus will be on the NAPHL for 3-4 days. There will be plenty of great hockey to watch and players to evaluate and NAHL Central Scouting will be out in full force. The Showcase Division provides additional exposure for all of the NAPHL players looking to make an impression and will only increase the ladder of development and number of opportunities between the NAHL, NA3HL, and NAPHL,” said NAPHL Director and NAHL Director of Player Personnel Tony Zasowski.

Seminar Info: In an effort to provide more opportunity to NAPHL teams in Blaine during the second event of the season, the North American Hockey League and the office of the Director of Player Personnel is offering an education seminar to teams and their families. Tony Zasowski and Craig Barnett will be discussing “The Path” to NCAA Hockey. The seminar will include climbing USA Hockey Develop Ladder, the levels of USA Hockey Juniors, and NCAA opportunities within NCAA Division I, III, and ACHA hockey along with NCAA compliance. The 45-minute presentations are scheduled for Saturday, October 20th and will be located in the Grand Hall of the National Sports Center located in the building directly to the right of the Schwan Super Rink.

The NAPHL has enjoyed a record-breaking amount of advancement in recent seasons, which is highlighted by a large amount of advancement of players to the North American Hockey League (NAHL). No other USA Hockey Midget Tier I league has had more players play in the NAHL over the course of the last two seasons than the NAPHL. 48 players from the NAPHL were tendered to play in the NAHL for the upcoming 2018-19 season. The NAPHL saw over 90 alumni play in the NAHL during the 2017-18 season. In addition, four NAPHL alumni were selected in the 2018 NHL Draft and a total of 27 NAPHL alumni have been selected in the last six NHL Drafts.

Another one of the big advantages of the NAPHL is the exclusive NAHL Central Scouting system. It is one of the big reasons that the NAPHL is advancing more and more players on to the NAHL than ever before are the direct benefits associated being directly involved with one another. NAHL Central Scouting is dedicated to identifying NAPHL hockey players, evaluating them in a true unbiased manner and then organizing and providing that information to NAHL teams. No other midget league in the United States has a system like it, where its primary mission is the advancement of players.
