Odessa defenseman Crossman makes NCAA DI commitment

September 21, 2018

James Crossman spent a year playing in the NAPHL for the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders before moving onto the NAHL.

Fresh off of his first victory back as a member of the NAHL’s Odessa Jackalopes, defenseman James Crossman verbally committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Brown University on Thursday night.

The 6’3/195 lbs. defenseman from Cherry Hills, Colorado was a constant force on the blue line last year for Odessa in the NAHL, notching seven goals along with 27 assists for 34 points last season.

During the 2017-18 season, he was also selected to and played in the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the NAHL Selects Red team, where he had an assist in the two games.

During the 2018-19 season, Crossman has excelled in his first two games back notching two goals and an assist for three points so far this season.

Crossman, 19, is a product of the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders in the NAPHL, playing for the 18U team before his rise to the NAHL. During the 2015-16 season, Crossman had 16 points in 25 NAPHL games. He also played in the 2016 NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament.

Overall in 90 NAHL games, Crossman has recorded 43 points with Odessa and the Minnesota Wilderness prior to that.

The Brown University Brown Bears play division 1 college hockey as a part of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) against other prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Dartmouth.

Crossman’s commitment marks the third Jackalope on this year’s roster committed to play DI college hockey.
