NAPHL announces Apex Learning Peak Performers for December
The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) announced its Apex Learning Virtual School Peak Performers for the month of December. The players were selected based upon their performance during games at the fourth NAPHL event of the season, which took place in Blaine, Minnesota from December 1-4.
18U Apex Peak Performer (Offense) – Alex Konovalov, New Jersey Jr. Titans
With a winning streak now at eight straight games, the New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U team has vaulted themselves right back into the heart of the playoff race. Forward Alex Konovalov, 17, led the way with 11 points in four games at the last event in December. The 5’11/175 lbs. native of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, had multi-point games in all four outings at the event, which included a four-point game in a 5-2 win over Tampa and a three-point game in an 8-2 win over Everett. Konovalov, who also tendered with the NAHL’s New Jersey Titans during the month, is 3rd in NAPHL 18U scoring with 22 points in 14 games played so far this season.

18U Apex Peak Performer (Defense) – John Studioso, Everett Silvertips Elite
Everett Silvertips Elite 18U defenseman John Studioso, 17, had a great event in December in Blaine as the native of Edmonds, Washington, recorded five points in four games for Everett. Studioso (5’9/165) recorded two multi-point games during the event, which included a goal and an assist in a 5-4 loss to Valley Forge and a goal and an assist in an 8-2 loss against New Jersey. Studioso also had a goal in a 4-1 win against Pursuit of Excellence. In 14 NAPHL games this season, Studioso has seven points.

18U Apex Peak Performer (Goaltender) – Andrew Miller, Rocky Mountain RoughRiders
Rocky Mountain 18U goalie Andrew Miller, 17, continued his stellar season with a perfect showing at the latest event in December in Blaine. The 5’11/175 lbs. native of Boulder, Colorado, continued to lead the NAPHL 18U division in goaltending statistics by posting shutouts in both of his starts during the event in December. That included a 22-save shutout in 3-0 win over Colorado Springs and a 21-save shutout in a 1-0 win over the Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede. Miler leads the NAPHL 18U Division in almost every goaltending category including goals against average (0.65), save percentage (96.8%), and shutouts (6).

16U Apex Peak Performer (Offense) – Cole Dubicki, Everett Silvertips Elite
Thanks to a six-game winning streak, the Everett Silvertips Elite 16U team now sits at the top of the NAPHL 16U standings. Forward Cole Dubicki, 16, led the way in December with a big effort as he recorded 11 points in four games as Everett won all of their games at the event. The 5’7/140 lbs. native of Seattle, Washington, had six goals during the event and two multi-point games, which included six points in an 11-0 win over Elite Hockey and three points in a 5-0 win over Meijer AAA. Dubicki is 2nd in NAPHL 16U scoring so far this season with 24 points in 13 games played.

16U Apex Peak Performer (Defense) – Max Ruoho, Madison Capitols
Leading the way for NAPHL 16U defensemen so far this season is Madison Capitols dman Max Ruoho. The 16-year-old native of Madison, Wisconsin, had his best event of the season in December as he recorded seven points in four games played to keep his team in the hunt for the top spot in the 16U Division. Ruoho (6’0/165) had two multi-point games, which included a four-point game in a 9-2 win over the California Titans and a two-point effort in a 4-3 shootout win over the Esmark Stars. Ruoho’s 14 points current leads all NAPHL 16U defensemen in scoring this season.

16U Apex Peak Performer (Goaltender) – Matthew Genter, Everett Silvertips Elite
16-year-old Everett Silvertips Elite goalie Matthew Genter (5’9/178) has been on a roll lately, which included the latest league event in December as Everett continued their winning streak, staying atop of the 16U Division. The native of San Diego, California, won both of his starts during the event, allowing just a single goal on 40 combined shots. He made 23 saves in a 4-1 win over Colorado Springs and then he stopped all 16 shots that came his way in a 5-0 shutout win over Meijer AAA. For the season, Genter is 4th for all NAPHL goalies in save percentage with a 94.4% mark and is 7th in goals against average with a 1.35 mark.

15U Apex Peak Performer (Offense) – Jonathan Horn, Elite Hockey AAA
Elite Hockey 15U forward Jonathan Horn, 15, led his club all the way to the NAPHL 15U Championship game, where his team fell in a shootout in the title game to Rocky Mountain, 5-4. The 5’6/135 lbs. native of Southbury, Connecticut, registered at least a point in all five games, leading his team all the way to the Championship Game. All 10 points were assists, which included four assists in an 8-2 win over Colorado Springs in the round-robin and three assists in a 3-2 win over Tampa in the Semi-Finals. During the regular season, Horn had five points in nine NAPHL games.

15U Apex Peak Performer (Defense) – Jonathan Shinneman, Tampa Scorpions
Tampa 15U defenseman Jonathan Shinneman, 15, led his club to a spot in the Semi-Finals at the final event in December as the native of Estero, Florida, recorded four points in four games during the event. Shinneman’s (5’8/150) best game came in a 4-1 win over Arizona where he recorded two goals. He also had assists in a 3-2 shootout win over Omaha and a 4-3 win over CarShield. During the regular season, Shinneman had eight points in nine games played, which ranked 4th among NAPHL 15U defensemen.

15U Apex Peak Performer (Goaltender) – Dominick Wasik, Rocky Mountain RoughRiders
Leading the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders to the NAPHL 15U Dixon Cup Championship was goalie Dominick Wasik. The 5’11/140 lbs. native of Superior, Colorado, won all three of his starts at the event, including the Championship Game. The 15-year-old began the event with 13 saves in a 3-1 win over Nashville. In his next start, Wasik stopped all 17 shots that came his way in a 3-0 shutout of the Esmark Stars. In the Championship Game, Wasik made 57 saves through regulation and two overtimes before stopping all three shooters from Elite Hockey in a 5-4 shootout win to claim the title.

The NAPHL is comprised of five regular-season events leading up to its Championship Tournament in which the top teams in each division compete for a league championship. The fifth NAPHL event of the 2017-18 season will feature all the 18U and 16U teams and will take place from January 27-29, 2018 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota
