NAPHL announces Apex Learning Peak Performers for September
The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) announced its Apex Learning Virtual School Peak Performers for the month of September. The players were selected based upon their performance at the first NAPHL event of the season, which took place in Blaine, Minnesota from September 21-24. Stats were based on ALL games played.
18U Apex Peak Performer (Offense) – Trevor Ion, Elite Hockey
Elite Hockey 18U forward Trevor Ion had a very good NAPHL debut during the first event in Blaine. The 5’9/155 lbs. native of East Haven, Connecticut had 8 points in 4 games, which 6 goals and 2 assists. Ion, 17, scored at least a goal in all four games and had two, three-point games, which included a hat-trick in a 6-3 win over Madison.

18U Apex Peak Performer (Defense) – Blake Rossi, Esmark Stars
Esmark Stars 18U defenseman Blake Rossi, 17, put up some good numbers at the first event in Blaine as the Youngstown, Pennsylvania native posted 4 points in 4 games, which included 2 goals and 2 assists. That included a multi-point effort in a 3-2 OT loss to the New Jersey Colonials in crossover competition for the 6’0/160 lbs. defenseman.

18U Apex Peak Performer (Goaltender) – Kyle McClellan, CarShield AAA
CarShield AAA 18U goalie Kyle McClellan posted a perfect 3-0 record during the first event in Blaine as the 6’1/176 lbs. native of St. Louis, Missouri was almost perfect during the event. McClellan, 18, posted two shutouts at the event with wins over the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies and Shattuck-St. Mary’s, and allowed just a single goal in a 2-1 overtime win over the Chicago Mission.

16U Apex Peak Performer (Offense) – Mac Robertson, Washington Little Capitals
Washington Little Capitals 16U forward Mac Robertson picked up right where he left off from last season with the 15U team, as the 6’4/165 lbs. native of Bowie, Maryland, started his 16U career with a bang with 8 points (6 goals, 2 assists) in 4 games played. Robertson, 16, had three multi-point games and scored four goals in a 7-1 win over Thunder Bay.

16U Apex Peak Performer (Defense) – Cal Mell, Elite Hockey
Elite Hockey 16U defenseman Cal Mell, 16, leads his team in scoring after one event and four games as the 5’9/155 lbs. native of Atlanta, Georgia, totaled five points (all assists) during the first event in Blaine. Mell’s best outing came in a 5-4 overtime win over Thunder Bay, in which he had four assists.

16U Apex Peak Performer (Goaltender) – Nahuel Veyan, Dallas Blackhawks Elite
Dallas Blackhawks Elite 16U goalie Nahuel Veyan, 16, was literally perfect during the team’s first event in Blaine. The 5’11/170 lbs. native of Plano, Texas, appeared in two of the four games and stopped all 45 shots he faced in regulation and overtime. He posted an 18-save shutout over the Tri-State Spartans and then made 27 saves in a 1-0 shootout loss against the Arizona Bobcats.

15U Apex Peak Performer (Offense) – Will Seijas, New Jersey Jr. Titans
The New Jersey Jr. Titans are in a good spot in the 15U standings after one event with a 3-1 record and were led by 15-year-old Will Siejas, who had 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists) in the first four games. The 6’1/170 lbs. native of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, had three multi-point games and a four-point game in a 9-3 win over Meijer AAA.

15U Apex Peak Performer (Defense) – Colin Hedland, Alaska Oilers
Alaska Oilers 15U defenseman Colin Hedland, 15, had an impressive NAPHL debut as he led the Oilers to a 3-0-1 record and 1st place in the 15U standings after one event. The 5’9/152 lbs. native of Anchorage, Alaska, recorded at least a point in each of his four games during the event, ending up with 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists). That included a 3-point game in a 6-2 win over Elite Hockey.

15U Apex Peak Performer (Goaltender) – Dominik Wasik, Rocky Mountain RoughRiders
Rocky Mountain RoughRiders 15U goalie Dominik Wasik, 15, had an impressive NAPHL debut as he posted a 2-0 record at the first event of the season. The 5’11/140 lbs. native of Superior, Colorado, posted a shutout in a 3-0 win over Colorado Springs and only allowed two goals on 27 shots against a very tough Minnesota Blades team. He also made 17 saves in a 3-1 win over Arizona.

#3 Star: Talon Wild, Alaska Oilers
The NAPHL is comprised of five regular-season events leading up to its Championship Tournament in which the top teams in each division compete for a league championship. The second NAPHL event of the 2017-18 season will be the 2017 NAPHL Showcase and Future Prospects Tournament, which will take place from October 20-23, 2017 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.
