Jr. Blues, NAPHL goalie and alum Cooley makes NCAA DI commitment

The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that former goaltender Devin Cooley has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Denver in the NCHC. The University of Denver are the defending NCAA Division I National Champions.
Cooley, 20, is an alumni of both the NAHL and the NAPHL, having played for Springfield during the first half of the 2016-17 season, as well as, playing in the NAPHL for the San Jose Jr. Sharks during the 2011-12, 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.
This past year, Cooley (6’5/180) began the season with the Jr. Blues and played with the team through November. The native of Los Gatos, California posted a 3-6-1 record in 10 games played with a 3.05 goals against average and a 90.9% save percentage while in the NAHL.
Cooley was then traded to the Wenatchee Wild where he appeared in 14 games for the Wild, posting a record of 7-3-0 with a 2.45 GAA and .887 save percentage for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.
Cooley played three full seasons in the NAPHL prior to his junior career. During the 2011-12 season, he played for the Jr. Sharks 14U team. During the 2013-14 season, he played for the San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U team and then during the 2014-15 season, he played for the Jr. Sharks 18U team. During his final season in the NAPHL, he played in the 18U All-Star Game, as well as, the NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament.
