St. Louis 18U forward Boyer signs NAHL tender
April 28, 2017
Josh Boyer began the 2016-17 season playing in the NAHL for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.
The St. Louis Selects of the NAPHL are pleased to announce that 18U forward Josh Boyer has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Brookings Blizzard. The Blizzard compete in the NAHL’s Central Division.
Boyer, 17, spent the first half of the 2016-17 season playing in the NAHL for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, where the native of Wasilla, Alaska, had two points in 20 games played.
Boyer (6’2/182) then joined the Selects for the second half of the season where he recorded four points in five regular season games and an additional three points in four playoff games.
Boyer played in the NAPHL during the 2015-16 season for the St. Louis Selects 16U team where he led the team in scoring with 22 points in 25 games played.
He is the fourth player from the St. Louis Selects 18U team to sign an NAHL tender this season.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 6, 2017.
