Omaha 18U goalie Hubbard signs NAHL tender

April 25, 2016
The Omaha AAA Hockey Club, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are pleased to announce that 18U goaltender Gavin Hubbard has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Shreveport Mudbugs. The Mudbugs are a new team in the NAHL’s South Division for the 2016-17 season.

Hubbard, 18, just completed his first season playing in the NAPHL for Omaha. The native of Annapolis, Maryland, led the NAPHL’s 18U Division in goals against average during the regular season with a 1.20 mark in 11 appearances.  He posted a 10-1-0 record with four shutouts, which tied for the 18U lead and his 93.3% save percentage tied for 7th.

Hubbard (6’1/175) was also selected to and played in the 2015-16 NAPHL 18U All-Star Game for Team Easton. Hubbard appeared in two playoff games, winning both while allowing just three goals on 62 shots.

Hubbard will also be playing for Team South at the 2016 NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament coming up from May 13-15 in Edina, MN.

"Gavin was a solid performer for us all season,” said Omaha head coach David Wilkie. “It is great to see him earn an NAHL tender with Shreveport and we wish him the best in his junior career."

Hubbard is the 13th player from this year’s Omaha 18U team who has signed an NAHL tender.

A tender is a contract  a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 7, 2016.
