Meijer 18U forward Hite signs NAHL tender
March 14, 2016
The Meijer AAA hockey club, proud members of the NAPHL, are pleased to announce that 18U forward Caleb Hite has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Minnesota Magicians of the NAHL’s Central Division.
Hite, 19, just completed his final season of hockey in the NAPHL. The native of Grand Blanc, Michigan, led the Meijer 18U team in scoring this season in NAPHL play with 26 points (9 goals, 17 assists) in 25 regular season games played.
Hite (5’11/187) also had six points in six playoff games as the Meijer 18U team made a run to the NAPHL 18U Championship Game, ultimately falling in a shootout to Madison.
For the past two seasons, Hite has also played in the NAPHL 18U All-Star Game. In 2016, he had an assist for Team OT Sports in their win and in 2015 he had a goal and an assist for Team White.
Last season, Hite played for the Lansing Capitals 18U team where he had 11 points in 24 games. Overall in his NAPHL career, Hite has scored 40 points in 52 games played.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 7, 2016.
