Anaheim 16U team headed to Tier I Nationals

March 13, 2015
The Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U team of the NAPHL are headed to the USA Hockey Tier I Nationals at the end of this month.

The Jr. Ducks 16U team, led by head coach Alex Kim, won the Pacific District Championship held in San Jose, CA last weekend.  In an all-NAPHL final, the Jr. Ducks defeated the Everett Jr. Silvertips, 6-2.

After rolling through three round-robin games, outscoring foes 15-1 in the process, the Jr. Ducks knocked off the Alaska Oilers, 4-1, in the semifinals. Jack Gates, Sitzman, Andre Ghantous and Patrick Choi scored. Dixson led the division with 10 points, while Sitzman had eight and Gates and Paul Selleck chipped in six apiece. Alexander Frosh led the division with a .33 goals-against average and a .962 save percentage, while Timothy Huxen’s 1.33 goals-against average was the division’s second-best.

It is part of a ground-breaking season for the Jr. Ducks. The California state champion 16U’s went 19-0-2 in CAHA regular-season games and went 19-1 to finish first in the regular season of the North American Prospects Hockey League. The Jr. Ducks finished Runner-Up at the NAPHL Championships in February.

During the 2014-15 season, they had two players commit to play NCAA Division I hockey and five times during the regular season they had players recognized as Peak Performers.
