Omaha 18U goalie Hanson signs NAHL tender

December 18, 2014
The Omaha AAA Hockey Club, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are pleased to announce that 18U goalie Darion Hanson, 17, has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Lone Star Brahmas.  The Brahmas compete in the NAHL’s South Division.

The native of East Bethel, Minnesota, has had an outstanding year thus far for Omaha. He is among the NAPHL 18U goalie leaders in most categories. He ranks 3rd in wins with 9, 7th in goals against average at 1.94 and 8th in save percentage at 92.1%.

More recently, Hanson was named the #1 18U Peak Performer for all goalies from the NAPHL event in Omaha. He was outstanding in goal as he allowed just two goals in the three wins. Hanson stopped a total of 64 of 66 shots that came his way during the event.

At the most recent event in Blaine, Hanson posted a 2-1 record as he stopped 61 of a possible 68 shots.

Last season, Hanson played for the Omaha 16U team, which won the 2013-14 NAPHL regular season Championship and finished as a USA Hockey National Semi-Finalist at the Tier I 16U National Championships.

"Darion has been a very good goalie for us for two years now. He is a very solid prospect and has a great frame to play the position effectively.  He has been consistent all season long and hopefully it's a sign of things to come for him,” said Omaha head coach David Wilkie.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2015.
