Esmark defenseman Ramage signs NAHL tender

November 14, 2013
The Esmark Stars, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL), are pleased to announce that 18U defenseman Tristan Ramage has signed an NAHL tender with the Johnstown Tomahawks. The Tomahawks are members of the NAHL’s North Division.

Ramage, 17, is in his third season in the NAPHL with the Esmarck/Pittsburgh program. The native of Evan City, Pennsylvania, anchors a Stars defense that is second in the 18U Division in least goals allowed per game at just 1.6.

Through 14 NAPHL games this season, Ramage (6’2/195) has seven points (1 goal, 6 assists). Six of seven points this season in NAPHL action have come on the power play.  Ramage had four points at the Showcase in San Jose and three at the first event in Blaine in September.

This past summer, Ramage played on Team East at the 2013 NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament in Frisco, Texas. Ramage had three points in four games and helped Team East to the Top Prospects title.

During the 2012-13 season, he spent time on both the Pittsburgh 18U and 16U squads. While with the 18U team, Ramage had 11 points in 17 games and played in four playoff games, recording two points.  He also appeared in 15 games with the 16U team. During the 2011-12 season, Ramage played in 15 games for the 16U team, recording six assists.  He played in four playoff games, recording one point.

Ramage is the first player from the Esmark Stars 18U team to sign an NAHL tender this season.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 3, 2014.
