NAPHL moves to final day in Blaine

The eighth event of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) 2022-23 season continued on Sunday, December 18th as teams from the NAPHL's SHOW League once again took to the ice. 

This event will mark the continuation of the 2022-23 regular season for the SHOW League and is taking place at the NSC Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota from December 16-19.

The event is being played in the cooperation with the 2022 NA3HL Showcase, which will take place from December 18-20 at the Super Rink. All 34 NA3HL teams and coaches will be at the event and all 24 NAHL teams will also have a scouting presence.

Day 3 recaps

 

14U Division: The Weber Mustangs edged the Arizona Hockey Union in a 4-3 contest. Paden Toula added two goals including the game-winning shorthanded goal. Goaltender Aden Manning took the win in net, turning away 45 shots. The Dallas Penguins scored a second period goal that would be the deciding factor in a 1-0 win against the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights. Nigel McDonald scored the lone goal of the contest while netminder Joseph Lackey posted a 17 shot shutout win. 

16U Division: The Texas Warriors got past the Weber Mustangs in a 2-1 final. Yehor Chizhevsky and Matthew Megwa both scored for the Warriors. Goaltender Walter Jimenez III stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced. The Tampa Crunch shutout the SISU Thunderbirds in a 5-0 final. Mookie Killen accounted for 4 goals and Goaltender EJ Kotula earned the shutout. The New Mexico Ice Wolves shutout the Clearwater Ice Storm in a 4-0 game. Forward Aiden Garner added two points with a goal and an assist. Goaltender Luka Remec posted a shutout win. The Park City Ice Miners took down the Texas Jr. Brahmas in a 10-1 game. Evan Bain recorded a hat-trick and goaltender Noah Grefe shrugged away 17 shots in the win. A third period push sent the Tampa Bay Jr. Lightning over St. Viator, 2-1. Goaltender Braedyn Sullivan turned away 28 of the 19 shots he faced in the win. The Texas Warriors defeated the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights in a 6-1 final. Goaltender Aden Zirogiannis stopped 14 of the 15 shots he faced. The Florida Jr. Everblades topped the Arizona Hockey Union in a 4-2 score. Israel Buckrop netted two goals and goaltender Gavin Jones turned away 32 shots. The Clearwater Ice Storm demolished the New Jersey Titans in a 12-0 game. Kane Eanes added 4 points with 2 goals and 2 assists while netminder Gregory Politis earned the shutout in net. The Texas Tigers defeated the St. Louis Sting by a wide margin of 9-1. Jake Bamback recorded 5 points with 3 goals and 2 assists. Tyler White picked up the win in net. 

18U Division: The Tri State Spartans topped the Arizona Hockey Union in a 10-3 game. Darcy Koch added 4 goals and Brody Burge added a goal and 3 assists. Goaltender Morgan Heck earned the win in the pipes stopping 11 shots. The Weber Mustangs took an overtime win against the Pacific Ridge Hockey Club, 3-2. Dilan Vallejo netted the overtime game winner and goalie Leonardo Dries took the win topping 15 shots. Overtime was the deciding factor between Denver East High School in a 3-2 final against the Dallas Penguins. Joseph Capra scored in the extra frame and goaltender Jacob Smitherburger picked up the win in net. St. Viator edged the Texas Tigers in a shootout, 6-5. Jake Knieling added a goal, an assist, and the game winning shootout goal. Netminder Dominic Grimaldi turned away 34 shots in the win. The Texas Jr. Brahmas shutout Monument Hockey Academy in a 2-0 game. Goaltender Maverick Sweeny stopped all of the 40 shots he faced. The Portland Winterhawks blanked Golden State Elite in a 1-0 contest. Nicholas Ulyanov posted a 37 shot shutout win. The Clearwater Ice Storm picked up a 5-2 victory against the New Mexico Jr. Ice Wolves. Ashton Gibson added two goals and Goaltender Phillip Tate stopped 19 shots. The Madison Capitols defeated the Lincoln Stars 4-1. Goaltender Travis Visvardra stopped 13 shots in the win. Clearwater Ice Storm added a 5-3 win against St. Mary’s. Ben Reimer totalled 3 points with 2 goals and 1 assist. Goalie Connor Sheridan stopped 17 of 20 shots. The Jersey Whalers topped the Arizona Hockey Union in a 5-1 game. Sam Iannella totalled 4 points with 2 goals and 2 assists. Lowen Newman was great in net stopping 14 shots. The St. Louis Sting added a win over the Anaheim Jr. Ducks, 2-1. Brandt Diel had a two point game and goaltender Ryan Obert stopped 18 shots. The Philadelphia Hockey Club took down the Texas Tigers 5-2. Dante Passio and Colin Helkowski both scored twice. Goalie Matthew Beatty stopped 43 shots in the victory.
