Day 2 in Blaine jam-packed full of games and scouts

The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) continued with Day 2 of the event at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota on Saturday, October 15th for the second event of the 2022-23 NAPHL T1ER League. The 2022 FALL League Championship also got underway with each team playing in two games on Saturday.

Day 2 Recaps

14U Division: The Esmark Stars defeated CarShield 4-1 thanks to a hat trick performance from forward Sean Goodman. Synjun McHattie scored the other Esmark goal while CarShield’s offense came from Thomas Fair. The Northwest Stars took down the Ontario Jr. Reign 5-2. Coen Ham and Fedor Stepanyuk both had multiple points in the victory while their goaltender Mathias Dishneau madde 29 stops. The Tri State Spartans blanked the Arizona Bobcats 6-0, scoring four goals in a dominant 2nd period. Forward Harper Sullivan had a hat trick and Blake Shuler had 3 assists. The Indy Jr. Fuel controlled the pace the entire game against Biggby Coffee, defeating them by a final score of 7-0. Zachary Dietz and Nathan Apple both potted a pair of goals in the victory. 

15U Division: Philadelphia Hockey Club forward Johnny Sasselli scored 1:10 into overtime to give his squad a 5-4 victory over the Arizona Bobcats. Jake Robson had 2 goals and 1 assist for Philadelphia and Dale Curtis and Alexei Burkley were the other goalscorers. The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights picked up a 7-0 win over the Colorado Springs Tigers, holding them to just 8 shots in the contest. Casey Berninger, Liam Heary, and Finn Mcnabb all put up three points for the Knights. The New Jersey Titans defeated the Northwest Stars by a score of 5-1. New Jersey was led by Peter Morris registering a total of 3 points in the contest. Peyton Millon picked up the win between the pipes for the Titans. Biggby Coffee played on another level against the Ontario Jr. Reign, defeating them 10-1. Biggby forward Brayden Sainato put up a hat trick in the contest and Chase Potter had four points. The Janesville Jets shutout the Philadelphia Little Flyers 2-0 as their netminder William Zinnen went a perfect 20 for 20 on shots faced. Blake Ahnemann and Owen Hoehn both lit the lamp for the Jets. CarShield’s Matty Muenz had a natural hat trick in the 3rd period in their 6-0 rout over the Valley Forge Minutemen. Devon Hobson also had 1 goal and 3 assists in the victory. Nine Esmark Stars skaters had multiple point performances in their 10-1 victory over the Tri State Spartans. Kyle Mclaughlin also had a strong performance for the Stars, stopping all but one of 24 shots faced. 

16U Division: The Maine Nordiques shutout the Northeast Generals 2-0 with their netminder Brayden Rassmussen making 13 saves. Mason Faas and Kaden Rehberger were the goalscorers for the Nordiques, both goals coming in the 1st period. The Arizona Bobcats defeated the Minnesota Magicians 4-2. Wyatt Aurund, Nicholas Correnti, Mitchell Ackerman, and Kyle Ensley all scored for the Bobcats while Minnesota’s goals came from Ryan Lipovetz and Enzo Caneveri. CarShield doubled Omaha Mastery’s offensive output in their 4-2 victory Saturday afternoon. The Vegas Jr. Golden Knights defeated the Northwest Stars by a score of 5-1. Ben Branco had 1 goal 2 assists for a total of 3 points, and Jacob Brumm stopped 18 of 19 shots to get the win. The Indy Jr. Fuel beat Team Alaska 5-2 to pick up their first win of the weekend. Ryan Boccone had 2 goals and Filippas Pliastos had a goal and assist while their netminder Aidan VanderWeele made 29 saves. The Tri State Spartans picked up their 4th win of the regular season in their 3-1 victory over the Ontario Jr. Reign. Rylan Hoy potted a pair of goals for the Spartans. The Madison Capitols topped the Colorado Springs Tigers in a 3-1 final. Forward Ryder Hill netted two goals for the Capitals and goaltender Alex Scandrol stopped 17 of the 18 shots he faced. The Esmark Stars took down Biggby Coffee AAA in a 6-3 game. Stars forward Mykyta Yalovyi netted two goals in the contest. The Northeast Generals picked up a 7-4 win over the Minnesota Magicians. Lucas Sawyer, Will Huber and Makhai Santiago all added 3 points. 

18U Division: The Lincoln Stars took a 5-2 win over the Minnesota Magicians. Mike Baran added 3 points with 2 goals and 1 assist in the win. Palmyra Black Knights forward Keegan Shearer sealed a 2-1 win against the United Hockey Federation with his overtime goal. Knights goaltender Brayden Schoch stopped 37 of the 36 shots he saw. The Arizona Bobcats edged the Northeast Generals in a 2-1 final scoring a goal in the second and third periods. Cameron Cote and Matthew Duffy both netted the puck while goaltender Aiden Biswanger earned the win in net. The New Jersey Jr. Titans won 4-1 over the Maine Nordiques. Sidarovich scored two goals and Moskvin added 2 assists. Goaltender Gipe allowed 1 goal on 33 shots. The Tri State Spartans defeated the Ontario Jr. Reign by a score of 4-0. Oliver Joseph stopped all 14 shots that he faced in recording the shutout for the Spartans. The Northwest Stars defeated the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights in a 5-1 game. Keagan Miciak added three assists and Bryce Johnson netted two goals. The Esmark Stars took a shootout win, 5-4, over Biggby Coffee AAA. Mark Trischler scored to force overtime then Nikita Volski scored in the shootout to take the win. CarShield AAA topped Omaha Mastery AAA, 4-1. Tyler Dale scored a goal and added an assist in the win while netminder Brady Govero stopped 14 of 15 shots. Team Alaska took a shootout win 2-1 over the Indy Jr. Fuel. Noah Rogers netted the game winning shootout goal. The Madison Capitols won 4-3 over the Colorado Springs Tigers. Jacob Barth put up three points with two goals and an assist. The Lincoln Stars scored a goal in each period to win 3-1 over the Maine Nordiques. Mike Baran, Donovan Bradford, and Braden Balgemann all scored. The Northeast Generals won 4-2 over the New Jersey Jr. Titans after a strong third period effort. Quinn HOllingsworth added two helpers in the win. 

16U FALL: The St. Cloud Norseman opened up the FALL League Championship with a 5-2 victory over the Chippewa Steel. Gavan Norton had a strong 25 save performance in the win while Jackson Kath, Nate Esler, Drew Lindquist, Marty Timmons, and Jacob Troska were the goalscorers for the Norsemen. The Kenai River Brown Bears dominated the Austin Bruins 7-1 in part to a strong four goal 2nd period. Luke Babineau, Evan Larson, Dominic Arndt, Gavin Sullivan, and Will O’Donovan each had multiple points in the victory. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs scored in all three periods en route to a 6-1 victory over the Wisconsin Windigo. Forward Fisher Hatfield had a pair of goals in the win while netminder Brock Lueck kept out all but one of 14 shots faced. The Janesville Jets blanked the Minnesota Wilderness 3-0, holding them to just 9 shots in the win. Netminder Hayden Reuhl was the victor in between the pipes while Alexander Beck, Parker Holloway, and Casey Keane provided the offense. The Austin Bruins trailed going into the third period to rally back winning 4-2 against the Chippewa Steel. Gahvin Schaefer, Mason Wadewitz, Daniel Klingsporn and Colton Holzer all scored. The St. Cloud Norsemen turned on their offensive game in the third period scoring 5 goals to take a 5-3 win over the Kenai River Brown Bears. Jackson Kath added a goal and an assist while Mario Bernard, Dillian Smidt, Marty Timmons and Aiden Bale all scored. The Kenai River Brown Bears edged the Minnesota Wilderness, 3-2. Coltin Wassengeso, Blake Lokken and Landon Mazzocco all scored. 

18U FALL: The St. Cloud Norsemen battled back in the third period to edge the Wisconsin Windigo, 5-4. Mack Yelle found the back of the net twice including the game-winning goal. The Janesville Jets doubled down with a 6-3 win over the Kenai River Brown Bears. Alex Pottratz added a goal and an assist and Noah Gillette scored twice. After a tied 3-3 first period between the Chippewa Steel and Fairbanks Ice Dogs, the Steel broke loose offensively to take a 9-3 win. Grant Kohnen netted 2 goals and handed out two helpers and Nick Mork added 3 assists. The Austin Bruins topped the Minnesota Wilderness in a high scoring game, 8-5. Jacob Brown added 2 goals and Sam Jacobson added 2 goals and 1 assist. The Chippewa Steel took down the St. Cloud Norsemen, 4-1. Keaton Orrey had a multiple point night with a goal and two assists, as goalie Brady Altier stopped 33 of 34 shots. The Wisconsin Windigo won 5-3 over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Chase Borene added a goal and assist in the win.
