NAPHL announces Apex Learning Peak Performers for September
The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) announced its Apex Learning Virtual School Peak Performers for the month of September. The players were selected based upon their performance during the NAPHL regular season games played in September at the T1ER and FALL League events in Blaine, MN. The awards are given to players from NAPHL full-time T1ER and FALL League teams. Guest teams are not considered for the awards.
T1ER 18U
Forward: Brody Simko, Esmark Stars – Simko, 18, lit it up at the first T1ER event of the season, recording 14 points (10 goals, 4 assists) in Esmark’s first four games. The 6’0/195 lbs. native of Butler, PA, had two game winning goals and scored seven goals in a 10-0 win over the Grey Ducks.
Defense: Luke Chappelle, Maine Nordiques – Chappelle, 17, led all 18U T1ER blueliners with 10 points in September, which included five goals and five assists. The 5’11/170 lbs. native of Trenton, MI, recorded three multi-point games and had a hat-trick, including the game-winning goal in a 5-0 win over the Indy Jr. Fuel.
Goalie: Peter Baldwin, Esmark Stars – Baldwin, 18, posted a shutout in both of his starts in September. The 5’8/140 lbs. native of Cleveland Heights, OH, made 50 saves in two games, which included a 15-save shutout over Colorado Springs and a 30-save shutout over Omaha.
T1ER 16U
Forward: Sullivan Swiersz, Maine Nordiques – Swiersz, 15, tied for the T1ER 16U scoring lead in September with eight points in four games, which included six goals and two assists. The 5’10/165 lbs. native of Raleigh, NC, had two multi-point games, which included two game-winning goals and a hat-trick.
Defense: Harper Frey, Madison Capitols – Madison 16U defenseman Harper Frey, 15, led his team in scoring during the month of September with six points (4 goals, 2 assists) in four games played. The 6’0/175 lbs. native of Madison, WI, had two game-winning goals during the first event and two multi-point games.
Goalie: Hleb Subach, Esmark Stars – Subach, 16, posted shutouts in both of his starts in September. The 6’2/195 lbs. native of Minsk, Belarus, stopped all 41 shots that same his way in two games, including a 24-save shutout over the Walleye and a 17-save shutout the United Hockey Federation.
T1ER 15U
Forward: Alex DeGroat, CarShield AAA – DeGroat, 15, lead all regular T1ER players with seven points in four games played, which included five goals and two assists. The 5’7/130 lbs. native of St. Charles, MO, had the game-winning goal in a win over the Little Flyers, which included a hat-trick and two assists.
Defense: Declan Kelly, Valley Forge Minutemen – Kelly, 15, pick up four points in four games for the Minutemen. The 5’9/140 lbs. native of North Wales, PA, recorded a point in three of four games and had two goals and two assists. He had two assists in a 7-3 win over Janesville.
Goalie: Andrew Skorupka, New Jersey Jr. Titans – Skorupka, 15, picked up two wins in two games in Blaine in September, while allowing just a single goal. The 6’0/140 lbs. native of New Jersey, stopped 39 of 40 shots in the two wins, which included a 17-save shutout of Polars 15U.
T1ER 14U
Forward: Brandon Murphy, Indy Jr. Fuel – Indy Jr. Fuel 14U forward Brandon Murphy was bright spot for his team in September, recording five points in four games. The 5’5/125 lbs. native of Indianapolis, IN, had a big game in a 6-4 win over the Blue Ox with two goals and three assists.
Defense: Rowan Hartsock, Indy Jr. Fuel – Indy 14U defenseman Rowan Hartsock, 14, had four points in four games during the first event in Blaine. That included a goal in a loss to the Green Giants and three assists in a 6-4 win over the Blue Ox.
Goalie: Dylan Hanson, Arizona Bobcats – While Dylan Hanson, 14, and the Arizona Bobcats 14U didn’t win a game during the first event in Blaine, Hanson was a busy netminder during the event. In just three games, Hanson faced 208 shots and made 184 saves, which was good for a .884 save percentage during the event.
FALL 18U
Forward: Alex Pottratz, Janesville Jets –.Pottratz, 18, recorded at least a point in all eight games he played in during the month of September, which included 10 goals and 5 assists. The 5’10/160 lbs. native of Hudson, WI, had at least one goal in seven of the eight games and had two game-winning goals.
Defense: Mason Amelse, Fairbanks Ice Dogs – Fairbanks defenseman Mason Amelse, 18, had a big month of September with seven points in eight games played. The 6’1/180 lbs. native of St. Louis Park, MN, put up three goals and four assists, which included a three-point effort in a 4-3 win over the Windigo on September 18th.
Goalie: Aiden Tepper-Engh, Janesville Jets – Tepper-Engh, 16, went 3-0-1 in five appearances in September. The 6’3/230 lbs. native of Hudson, WI, faced a total of 117 shots in the five games and made 110 saves, which was good for a 1.72 goals against average and a .940 save percentage.
FALL 16U
Forward: Gavin Sullivan, Kenai River Brown Bears – Gavin Sullivan, 16, of the Kenai River Brown Bears put up 15 points (9 goals, 6 assists) in eight games played in September to lead all FALL 16U scorers. The 5’7/150 lbs. native of Andover, MN, recorded five multi-point games and two game-winning goals.
Defense: George Daravingas, Fairbanks Ice Dogs – Daravingas, 16, put up nine points in the Ice Dogs’ eight games in September, which included six goals and three assists. The 5’9/165 lbs. native of Eden Prairie, MN, had three game-winning goals during the month and recorded at least a point in five of the eight games played.
Goalie: Timothy Urdahl, Kenai River Brown Bears – Brown Bears goalie Timothy Urdahl, 15, put together a 4-0 record during the month of September. The 6’1/160 lbs. native of Hibbing, MN, faced a total of 107 shots and made 100 saves, allowing seven goals in four games, which was good for a 1.75 goals against average and a .935 save percentage.
