Nine North American Prospects Hockey League (PHL) players were selected in the 2011 United States Hockey League (USHL) Entry Draft, which was conducted online on Monday, May 16.
Among those selected was DC Capitals 18U forward Sam Anas, who was chosen in the second round (22nd overall) by the Youngstown Phantoms. Anas, who finished second overall in PHL scoring this past season with 41 points, has committed to Quinnipiac University (ECAC).
In the third round, the Tri-City Storm selected Capitals 18U defenseman Dylan Maller (32nd overall), a University of New Hampshire (Hockey East) recruit, and in the fourth round the Fargo Force picked Wenatchee Wild 18U forward Max McHugh.
Another Capital - defenseman Eric Sweetman - was selected in the sixth round (78th overall) by the Phantoms.
In the next round, the Muskegon Lumberjacks chose Indiana Jr. Ice 18U forward Mason Jobst (96th overall).
The Lincoln Stars picked California Titans 18U defenseman Justin Woods in the 13th round (188th overall), while the Chicago Steel selected Pittsburgh Viper Stars 18U defenseman Alex Baskakov in the 15th round (219th overall).
In Round 16, the Phantoms picked San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U defenseman Christopher Buchanan (228th overall).
The Storm chose Las Vegas Storm 16U goaltender Talon Miller in the 18th round (257th overall).
