Sioux Falls 18U defenseman Strand signs NAHL tender
January 3, 2018
The Sioux Falls Jr Stampede AAA Tier 1 Program of the NAPHL is proud to announce that 18U defenseman Jordan Strand has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Coulee Region Chill of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.
The 6’0/195 lbs. native of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, has 13 points and is +11 through 17 games played. Strand is the third Jr Stampede 18U player to tender with a NAHL team this season.
Strand, 18, began the season playing for the Minot Minotauros in the NAHL, appearing in two games at the 2017 NAHL Showcase.
“Jordan has had an excellent first half of the season for us. Strand, who plays major minutes, has a tremendous presence every time he steps on the ice. I think this was very evident to Coulee Region and many other NAHL teams that were interested in tendering him. He defends well with his feet, is very physical, and generates a lot offense; both the power play and from the offensive blue line. He will immediately be an impact player next season for Coulee and have a great opportunity there in the NAHL,” said Sioux Falls 18U Head Coach, Dan Houck.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 5, 2018.
