The Meijer AAA Hockey club of the NAPHL are pleased to announce that two more players from the 18U team have signed NAHL tender agreements.
Meijer AAA 18U forward Jacob Kalandyk has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Lone Star Brahmas and 18U defenseman Spencer Oyler has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Shreveport Mudbugs. Both teams play in the NAHL’s South Division.
Kalandyk, 17, is in his second full season with the Meijer AAA program. The 6’1/188 lbs. native of Sagniaw, Michigan, has appeared in 13 NAPHL games this season and recorded five points (2 goals, 3 assists). Overall in 26 games, Kalandyk has 8 points.
He spent last season with the Meijer 16U teams, which included recording nine points in 21 games played.
Like Kalandyk, Oyler, 17, also has played the past two seasons for the Meijer AAA organization. The 5’10/172 lbs. native of Howell, Michigan, has played in 7 NAPHL games this season and recorded five points (all assists). In 16 games overall, he has seven assists.
Last season, Oyler split time between the Meijer 18U and 16U teams. In 20 games with the 16U team, he had eight points and he also played in 10 games for the 18U team.
To date, three players from the Meijer AAA 18U team have signed NAHL tenders.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 5, 2018.
