The North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) is pleased to announce a series entitled Previewing the NAPHL. Over the course of the next two weeks, the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) will preview each of the organizations in the NAPHL for the 2016-17 season. Each day, leading all the way up to the first event of the season at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN, the league will feature a different organization and take a look at their teams.

Back on March 24th, the NAPHL announced the addition of the prestigious Shattuck-St. Mary’s Midget AAA team to the 18U Division. Former NAHL head coach Pat Cullen is the head coach of the Shattuck St. Mary’s Midget AAA team that will be playing in the NAPHL. Prior to coaching at SSM, he most recently served as the assistant coach at St. Olaf College, an NCAA Division III program in the MIAC. He has also coached and worked as the general manager in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) for the Southern Minnesota/Owatonna Express from 2005-10. Coach Cullen earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Bemidji State University and began his career as the head coach for five years at Hamline University.
The Midget AAA 18U team that will be competing in the NAPHL is second only to their Prep Team. They also have a 16U team and a Midget AA team. Head Coach Pat Cullen states, “We are very excited to be joining the NAPHL and to have a chance to compete against very good competition. We know that we will have to be on top of our game at every event. We will rely heavily on our returnees: Peter White, Kyle Cote, Sam Shrout, Jake Vaughan, Brent Schuldhaus, Christian Brune, Owen Arfstrom and Preston Kostlan.”
