Rocky Mountain 18U defenseman Crossman signs NAHL tender

November 18, 2015
Rocky Mountain RoughRiders, proud members of the NAPHL, are pleased to announce that 18U defenseman James Crossman (6’3”/200) has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Minnesota Wilderness. The Wilderness are members of the NAHL’s Midwest Division and are also the defending NAHL Robertson Cup Champions.

Crossman, 16, is in his fifth year playing for the RoughRiders and first season playing at the 18U level.  The native of Denver, Colorado, currently leads the 18U team in scoring as a defenseman with nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) in the team’s first 15 games of the season.

Crossman played last season for the RoughRiders 16U team.

He is the first Rocky Mountain RoughRiders player this season to sign an NAHL tender.

“James has really put the time in the weight room in the off season to get his body where it needs to be for the next level.   James is an offensive defenseman who continues to work on his skating and the defensive side of his game to make him a better all around defenseman.   We are excited to see a player like James who has played from U13 to U18 in our Program get a chance to play at the next level,” said Derek Robinson, Director of Hockey Operations for the RoughRiders organization.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2016.
