Former New Jersey 16U forward Walker makes USHL club

August 14, 2014
The New Jersey Jr. Titans of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are very proud to announce that 16U forward Ryan Walker has made the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL.

Walker will be on the roster of players that will represent the USHL and the United States in the 2014 Junior Club World Cup being held in Ufa, Russia from August 22-30. The JCWC, which is sanctioned by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), features top junior hockey teams from around the world as nine different countries will send representatives for the 2014 tournament.  The Sioux City Musketeers are competing in “Group B” against teams from Austria, Latvia, Sweden, and Russia.  “Group A” consists of teams from Belarus, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, and Russia.

Last season, Walker played for the Titans 16U team in the NAPHL and was an offensive powerhouse. His stellar play in the NAPHL earned him a commitment to Union College, the 2014 NCAA Division 1 National Champions.

Walker, 16, set new scoring records during the 2013-14 season in the NAPHL. Walker became the first player in NAPHL history to eclipse the 50-point plateau in a season.

The native of Spotswood, New Jersey, not only led the 16U Division in scoring, but the entire NAPHL as well. Walker (5’10/155) set a new five-year league record for scoring with a total of 76 points in just 20 NAPHL games this season. His 47 assists were also a new NAPHL record, and his 29 goals ranks second all-time among NAPHL players.

Walker played in the inaugural NAPHL 16U All-Star Game this past season in December during the NAPHL Showcase in Blaine, Minnesota, where he had a goal and an assist in the game.

He also tendered with the Amarillo Bulls of the NAHL. The Musketeers drafted Walker in the 6th round pick number 102. Walker completed main camp with the team where he was named to their 25-man roster for the upcoming season.

Walker had this to say, “I’m extremely excited to get the opportunity to play for the Sioux City Musketeers. Going to Russia will be an unforgettable experience and I can’t wait for the season to start.”

The Titans are very proud of Ryan and look forward to seeing him continue to hone his skills at the next level. Everyone in the Titans organization wishes him the best of luck.
