January 16, 2014
The St. Louis Selects of the North American Prospects Hockey League are pleased to announce 18U forward Trevor Thornton has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Michigan Warriors. The Warriors compete in the NAHL’s North Division.

Thornton, 18, is in his third NAPHL season and second with the 18U team. In 19 games played to date, the native of St. Peters, Missouri has 17 points (9 goals, 8 assists), which ranks second on the Selects 18U team in scoring.

Thornton’s (6’0/190) most productive event of the year came at the last NAPHL event in Oxford, OH, where he recorded six points in the five games played. It included a season-high three points in a win over the Detroit Falcons.

During the 2012-13 season, Thornton played for the St. Louis 18U team where he set career highs in points (21) and goals (13). In 2011-12, he played for the Selects 16U club where he recorded 13 points in 18 games played.

During his NAPHL career, Thornton has played in nine career NAPHL playoff games and recorded 11 points. In his NAPHL regular season career, Thornton has played in 59 career games and recorded 51 career points.

The 18U Selects enter the final regular season event of the year tied for 10th place in the 18U standings, five points out of the 8th and final playoff spot for the Gold Division. Three of their five remaining games are against teams that are ahead of them in the standings.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 3, 2014.
