Lansing 18U forward Hein signs NAHL tender

December 20, 2013

Lansing Capitals forward Ronnie Hein, who leads the 18U team in scoring, has signed an NAHL tender with the Aberdeen Wings.

The Lansing Capitals, proud members of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) are pleased to announce that 18U forward Ronnie Hein has signed an NAHL tender with the Aberdeen Wings. The Wings are members of the NAHL’s Central Division.

Hein is still just 16-years-old, but is the leading scorer on the Capitals 18U squad so far this season. At 12-2-0, Lansing currently has the second best record in the NAPHL’s 18U Division this season.

The native of Chelsea, Michigan, has 17 points in 13 games played so far this season in NAPHL action. Hein (5’11/158) also has 11 goals this season, which ranks tied for 5th of all NAPHL 18U scorers.

This is Hein’s second season playing in the NAPHL. Last season, he played for the Lansing Capitals 16U team, where he led the team in scoring with 20 points in 22 NAPHL regular season games. Hein also had three goals in four playoff games that season.

Hein’s best stretch of games so far this year came at the first event at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine in September when he totaled nine points in the opening five games and was named the #3 star for the NAPHL 18U Peak Offensive Performers in the month of September.

At the most recent NAPHL event in Blaine in December, Hein registered six points in four games played as the Capitals went undefeated at the event.

Hein is the first member of the Lansing Capitals 18U team to sign a tender this season.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 3, 2014.
